Vayu is a guided breathing app. You can use all of it without an account, and then nothing you do leaves your phone. If you choose to sign in, we back up your breathing history and your own routines so you can get them back on another phone. This page explains exactly what that means.
Vayu is made by Vireo Health Apps, the trading name of [LEGAL NAME], a sole trader based in the UK. We decide how your data is used, which makes us its "controller" under UK data protection law.

Your sessions, streaks, your own routines, reminder times and settings are stored only on your phone. We never see them. Uninstalling Vayu removes them.
Signing in is optional and is only for backup and syncing between phones. We then keep:
Your email address, or your Google account's email and name if you sign in with Google, and an account ID. If you use a password, Google's sign-in service stores it in a scrambled form; we can't see it.
For each session you finish: which exercise or routine, when, how long it took and how many exercises it had. Also your streak and totals, worked out from those sessions.
The name and exercises of any routine you build, and routines you've deleted (marked as deleted, so they don't come back on another phone).
Reminder times and settings always stay on your phone, even when you're signed in.
Premium is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google handles the payment; we never see your card details. The app only learns from Google Play whether you've bought Premium.
We don't ask about your health, mood or body, and Vayu doesn't measure your breathing. Vayu has no ads, no advertising ID, no analytics or tracking tools, and doesn't use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
We use your data only to back up your progress and routines and sync them to your other phones, which is the service you asked for when you signed in. Under UK GDPR our lawful basis is that this is necessary to provide the service (contract).
We may also look at it to fix a problem with your account or keep the service secure, on the basis of our legitimate interests, and only as far as that needs.
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, build profiles from it, or use it to train AI. We'll only email you about your account. If we ever want to send you anything else, we'll ask first.
Firebase Authentication runs sign-in and Cloud Firestore stores your backed-up data. Google does this on our behalf as our processor, under Google's data processing terms, and may not use your Vayu data for its own purposes.
If you sign in with Google, Google tells Vayu your email address and name.
Handles downloads and the Premium purchase. Google is responsible for that data itself; see Google's privacy policy.
Your backed-up data is stored by Google Cloud Firestore in London, in the UK (Google's europe-west2 region). Google may process some data outside the UK, for example for sign-in. Where it does, it's protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses in Google's data processing terms.
Data is encrypted while it travels between your phone and Google, and while it's stored.
We keep your backed-up data while you have an account. When you delete your account, it's deleted straight away. Data on your phone stays until you delete your account or uninstall Vayu.
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. After you confirm it's you, Vayu deletes your account and everything backed up to it straight away, along with the synced data on that phone.
If you no longer have the app, see Delete your Vayu account to ask us by email. We'll do it within one month.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel or refund Premium. Your purchase stays with your Google Play account, and you can restore it in the app.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
Email us and we'll reply within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Vayu is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
If Vayu or our business is sold or transferred, your data would move to the new owner so the app can keep working. The new owner would have to protect it in the same way and use it only for the same purposes. We'll tell you before it happens, so you can delete your account first if you'd rather not move with it.
If we change how Vayu uses your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
